Sadiq Khan has - inexcusably - waited too long to crack down on London's record levels of violent crime. He has, for months now, ignored my costed plans to cut waste at City Hall in order to fund more frontline police and detectives.
Today's policing settlement from the Conservative government means there are no more excuses to give, or fingers to point, or blame to shift; Khan has what he needs.
Khan now needs to demonstrate his seriousness on crime by cutting City Hall waste, cutting his PR budgets, and using this new money to put some meat on the bones of his heavily-PR'd, yet still non-existent, Violence Reduction Unit.
It is time to crack down on violent crime in London.
